Can my family pet immigrate with me?

No problem bringing Fluffy or Fido as long as you have their proper papers issued by your vet -- be sure rabies shots are up to date and your pet has a complete physical within two weeks of travel.

Once you land at Panama City, show your papers to the Veterinarian who keeps regular office hours at the airport. He’ll provide you with the necessary forms, briefly eyeball your pet, charge you $140, and you’re on your way. Arrive during off hours and you’ll need the services of a lawyer to be sure the paper work is properly handled.

Because of government programs geared to protect Panama’s extensive bird population, bringing Polly with you probably won’t work. However, regardless of what kind of pet you’re bringing, it’s wise to check with your local Panamanian Consulate for the most up to date information.
